Otis Jenkins, stage name Thugnificent, is a recurring character in the series The Boondocks. He is a loud-mouthed rapper known for his freestyle hip-hop adventures and in the Lethal Interjection Crew. He is voiced by series producer Carl Jones.

History[]

A once-famous rapper and Riley's most recent idol, Thugnificent hails from the fictional town of Terra-Belle, Georgia. He is loud-mouthed and sports afro puffs. His narcissism is unmatched, epitomized by the ubiquitous statues of himself, designed to mirror Ancient Greek gods in their style and pose, that adorn his white-and-gold mansion, as well as by a painting depicting himself standing above Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G. Soon after moving into the neighborhood he begins to beef with Robert and later initiates Riley into his entourage, the "Lethal Interjection Crew," consisting of himself, fellow rappers Macktastic and Flonominal, whom he met through his record label, and "other n***as he's known his whole life". Despite his less-than-attractive traits, Thugnificent does attempt to be a good neighbor by asking for permission to throw his loud parties and encouraging face-to-face communication within the neighborhood, and is fairly friendly with most other neighborhood citizens. In "Bitches to Rags" it is revealed that Thugnificent has a bachelor's degree in Communication. "Bitches to Rags" also reveals that Thugnificent's record sales and popularity have been in sharp decline; by the end of the episode his home is foreclosed and his belongings auctioned to pay his debts. In the end of the episode he attempts to pull his record sales back up top but Ed becomes very furious about the debt and cocaine not being sold and a gunfight ensues after Ed is shot in the chest (although he survives the shot due to the impact of his bulletproof vest) and Thugnificent prudently runs away and he is forced to cut his hair short. Relinquishing his stage name, Otis thus begins a new career as a delivery man (all the while hoping for a reality show to save him from "real work"). He also likes to tell people to "eat a dick". In The Fun-Raiser he helps as a delivery man to the kids. As he delivers a large box, it reveals a kid working for Riley dipped in chocolate by a group of English and Irish men. Otis appears in Mr. Medicinal and says that he does not take any pills but smokes weed for medicine. The Freeman family maybe close friends with Thugnificent after his new change. In The Fried Chicken Flu, he is invited by Riley to stay at the Freemans household as the Fried Chicken Flu virus spreads throughout Woodcrest and the world, but unfortunately, Otis is later kicked out by Robert after being caught having sex with Granddad's friend Tina along with Leonard (kicked out for bringing and serving people buffalo wings).
